I had read a quote somewhere that remained with me forever… “We all enter this world crying. Laughter is something we have to learn.” So I decided that I will never spend my life overlooking Happiness, I shall rather create it in every possible way, every day. Happiness for me comes in small and simple things of life. I can find myself smiling at a funny picture and watching a funny movie/video makes me happy as well. I am sure few of us like to watch a good Comedy movie for a good laugh and I am no different. Even if it is a Slapstick comic one, I enjoy it over a bucket of popcorn and in my own company or that with friends. Laughter indeed is the best medicine that dives your stress away. I recommend that we should wake up and watch something comic every morning, be it Charlie Chaplin, I Love Lucy, Mr. Beans, Tom and Jerry Cartoon or The Funny gigs on the net for at least 10mins to kick start a happy day, every day. We are a family of film buffs and I also do love watching meaningful movies with an underlying message at the end and the mushy love stories that warm my heart also make me happy.
Besides the movies the other thing that brings happiness in my life is my time in the gym. Boring routines are not for me hence I keep mixing a few things to keep me interested. Whether it is doing cardio and weight training or a good swimming session or be it Zumba in the form of freestyle dancing, that brings up my adrenaline n triggers my happy hormones. I am the happiest when I am dancing, where I absolutely let go… no inhibitions, no restrictions. I definitely am not a good dancer like my brother but yes, I have fun doing what I do. I have the desire to learn Samba, Jiving, Tango, Tap dancing and of course the quintessential Bollywood Jhatkas and Matkas. Though, in a party of course, I like dancing on fast numbers and fast music.
Born in to a family that thrives on Music and has created some of the best music for the Indian Film Industry, I too have the penchant for good music which gives me a happy high. I love listening to the retro music, songs that I can relate to, songs that have deep emotions and resonates with me. When I go for long drives or even if I am at home, soothing music keeps playing in the background. Few of my favourite songs are those composed by my Chacha Rajesh Roshan. I’m a big fan of his music and there was this live concert that Chacha had put together a couple of months ago ‘Roshan se Roshan Tak’, I remember how much fun I had tapping my feet and clapping my hads for the entire 4 hours.
They say that having a pet for company not only gets you a loyal friend, but also cuts down your stress levels if any, with all the love and licks that your pet bestows on you. I can vouch for it as I have 4 pets in the house and all my free time I spend playing with all of them which makes me the happiest. They are my babies and my biggest stress busters indeed. They are therapeutic when I am low and down. I do take them with me for drives as well.
Besides music and dance and movies and working out, I love shopping like any other girl. I love spontaneous plans because the thrill of being in anticipation, intrigues me and I am like this happy child enjoying the magic that unravels. Travelling to explore the world and my own country is another thing that makes me super happy. I have had the privilege to travel many places abroad through childhood and as a part of work on many of my dad’s films. I have now been focussing on exploring the many beautiful cities of my own country. I have seen many plaes and still am raring to visit some more. Going for impromptu drives with friends has given me many of my happy moments.
The one other thing that finds a place on my happy list is the liberty to explore my love for food. I love to eat and enjoy tasting various cuisines of the world. We Roshans are all big foodies and we not only love to eat but, also love to share it with the people whom we love, be it friends or family. Hence, restaurant outings with my friends and cousins are my happy times. Bonding over coffees, lunches and dinners with the entire family on special occasions and festivities is mandatory for us. The chitter chatter and laughter over food, emits most positive vibrations in my Universe.
The other thing that I like very much and that brings me joy, is writing. I love to read inspirational books and collect motivational & inspiring quotes. Nowadays, I pen my thoughts going down the memory lane and it also acts as a stress releaser for me. I came up with the idea of sharing my personal diary through my blogs because, I do want to reach out to more and more people. I would be happy if my journey helps anyone in reconstructing their lives. Today, I can confidently say that I have become a happy and content person. Almost until 2 years ago, I needed constant company. But, now I am more at peace with myself and happy to be on my own.
Remember, that a moment does not have to be good or bad. Life brings up many experiences and many challenges, you have to just seize the moment and make it happy. No external factor can make you happy but yourself. After all, Happiness lies within. For me, happiness does not lie in vanity. It doesn’t lie in the big things that people may do for me. Rather, making me happy is easiest now. A small and thoughtful gesture of any person towards me, fills my heart with joy. It’s the thought of people that counts… having me in their thoughts shows me they care.
Before I wind up, I want to share with you my favorite song on Happiness that also resonates my motto in life. It is a famous song from my dad’s movie ‘Khoon Bhari Maang’ which goes as…
“Hanste Hanste Kat Jaye Rastey Zindagi Yun Hi Chalti Rahey… Khushi Miley Ya Gum Badleingey Na Hum, Duniya Chahey Badalti Rahey…” Stay Happy! Stay Joyous! Always Always and Forever because Happiness attracts more Happiness 🙂
